In order for all this to work, energy is needed, in a car this is a plus and a minus from battery. The minus goes to the body of the car, so the minus is not a problem. But it’s already difficult to find a permanent plus in the trunk. This is why we need a wire. Plus we will take from the wire going to the cigarette lighter. To do this, remove the panel with the clock and cigarette lighter. For convenience, you can remove all contacts, or you can do everything without removing contacts. The wiring is long enough. We find the positive wire going to the cigarette lighter and connect it to the relay according to the diagram.

To keep the relay out of the way, let's hide it. To do this, take out the ashtray and unscrew the two screws and remove the plastic fastener from the ashtray. There's a hole in the dashboard. We attach the relay through it with a bolt and nut. From the relay we lead the positive wire to the electric trunk lock. To do this, remove the shelf under the glove compartment, rear seats and the plastic that holds the floor covering in the car on the right side. We lay the wire under the glove compartment and lead it to the trunk using standard wiring. We put everything back in the car.

We place the trunk button where it is convenient for us. The main condition for choosing a location should be ease of access to the button and safety. In order not to accidentally press the button, I chose a place where there were two warning lights indicating that the seat belts were not fastened. Since they are not connected in this configuration. Then I removed these lights, installed a plug for the standard button in the classic, and installed the trunk button itself in the plug.


Now let's go back to the trunk. There we run the positive wire along the standard wiring. Through the technological holes in the trunk lid. To do this you will need a piece of wire. We take the mass in the same place where it is taken to illuminate the registration plate of the car.

We install the electric trunk drive. In order not to make any changes to the design of the lock, we will install it so that the electric drive pulls the lock mechanism. There are two options for attaching the electric trunk drive: 1) fasten it with self-tapping screws and 2) using a technological hole in the trunk lid. Let's consider the second option. To do this, we will use two plates with a hole in the middle and two bolts. All of the appropriate length and diameter in each specific case. We insert the plates into the technological hole and put the electric trunk drive on the bolts. We secure the electric trunk drive so that it does not interfere with the closing of the trunk lid. This mounting method allows you to adjust the distance between the electric trunk drive and the trunk mechanism.

Now let's look at the trunk lock mechanism. We need to move the tongue, which is visible through the hole in the mechanism. It is he who opens the trunk lid latch. The tongue itself is driven by a key. To repeat the same movement, we will thread the fishing line so that when the electric drive of the trunk is retracted, it sets the tongue in motion. Adjust the length and tension.

We connect the positive wire and the ground wire to the electric trunk drive. And press the trunk button in the cabin. If the trunk opens, then everything was done correctly; if not, then check whether the plus and ground are correctly connected to the electric trunk drive.

The trunk lid can now be opened with both a key and a button.

If you have an alarm system with the ability to open the trunk using a button on the alarm key fob, then it’s a small matter. We take the instructions from the alarm and look for which contact and wire should supply ground to our equipment, in what mode it is set by default. Then we look for the alarm unit and connect the contact we need with the trunk button.

As a result, the trunk lid is opened: with the key, from a button in the cabin and a button on the alarm key fob.

In this article I will describe step by step how I installed an electric drive for opening the trunk with a button directly from the cabin. In theory, after this modification, it can easily be connected to the alarm system and opened directly from the key fob, but at the time of installation I had an alarm system old model(MS Piterskaya, installed about 5 years ago) and it simply does not support such a function: (Oh well, there are more amenities anyway;) So, let's get started...

We will need the following components:



with personal belongings, they all come with it! Be sure to check the package, they tried to push the lock onto me without fasteners (like they forgot to put it in), but then the installation process becomes more complicated :) We will also need an ordinary relay(4 or 5 pin doesn't matter, we only need 4 of them):

And a couple more meters of wire, female connectors and, ideally, a “chip” for the relay, but you can do without it :) So, initially the task was to decide where to place the electric drive - I didn’t reinvent the wheel and placed it like this:


And secured it through the bar with self-tapping screws:


Ideally, of course, you can and should also screw in the second bar, but I was too lazy, and the lock fit tightly with its protruding end into the hole in the trunk lid (this hole even had to be widened a little with pliers) and it is impossible to move it by hand :) Next the task was to make a mechanical connection between the electric drive and the trunk lock. After surfing the Internet, I took the simple route - without welding or disassembling the lock. Look at the photo, under the photo there is a description :)

The hood lock is removed if it is necessary to replace the cable or the entire lock, as well as when the hood opening mechanism interferes with the various works for painting, replacing the cover, etc. How to remove and adjust the hood lock for a VAZ 2107?

1 Removing the hood lock and doing it yourself

To remove the hood lock, you need to use a screwdriver and a 10mm wrench. In addition, you will need a marker or pencil, which should be used to outline the outline of the lock for ease of reinstallation or when completely replacing the mechanism. Once the outline is drawn, use a standard screwdriver to pry up the locking cable clamps and remove them from seats. Now slightly straighten the cable and remove the retaining sleeve, and then remove the cable from the mechanism. Using a wrench, unscrew the two nuts that secure the lock to the hood along with the washers.

After this, straighten the rod and remove the fixing tube. In the cabin under dashboard Pull the sheathed cable into the lock drive hole using pliers. Removing the traction mechanism using the described method is only possible if the linkage breaks on the side of the handle in the car interior. If the cable breaks in the hood area, then you will need to crawl under the hood to pull the lock spring towards the battery.

It is also worth saying a few words about the locking cables on the VAZ 2107 and other “classics”. There are single-core and multi-core rods, which differ in strength. We recommend purchasing a multi-core cable (cost up to 150 rubles).

Tensioning the cable and installing the lock occurs in the reverse order. Use the contour that was marked during removal; you can use it to adjust the position of the lock.

On some Lada models, including the VAZ 2107, you can install an additional trunk with a button located in the car interior.

2 Removing and adjusting the trunk lock

As a rule, the position of the trunk lid lock is adjusted when a lot of force is required to close the lid, it is not securely fixed or opens while moving. In this case, adjustment is made without removing the main mechanism. Using a 10mm wrench, slightly loosen the lock mounting nuts and latch mounting bolts, then move the lock and latch to a new position and securely fix the fasteners.

Replacement, adjustment or partial repair is also carried out after removing the mechanism. To do this, unscrew the two nuts that secure the mechanism to the cover. Remove the lock from the cover and push the lock cylinder inside the trunk to remove it along with the spacer bushing and drive sealing ring (if the car is painted or an electric drive is installed).

When carrying out work, as in the case of the hood mechanism, it is recommended to draw the outline of the lock for subsequent convenient installation. Before installation, clean the fastening hole with anti-corrosion liquid and lubricate the rubbing parts on the lock itself. When installing a new lock, its position is adjusted with the nuts loosened (up and down) as described in the first paragraph. When all parts are installed and the tightness of the cover is adjusted, tighten the nuts until they stop.

3 How to open the hood of a VAZ 2107 if it is frozen or the cable is broken?

Most often, the hood lock cable breaks due to low temperatures, when the lock is frozen or covered with an ice crust. Many VAZ 2107 owners are familiar with this problem. If the hood mechanism is frozen, then to open it urgently, you must either pull the cable with pliers from the side of the interior handle (if the break occurred there), or use a steel wire with which you can bend the loop and pick up the “jacket” of the cable or try to reach it with pliers.

All this is possible only in the absence of plastic deflectors, which winter period serve to prevent snow and ice from entering the hood mechanisms. If there is a hood deflector, but the lock is frozen and does not open, you need to remove or break the deflector and try to reach the hood opening loop with a long flat screwdriver or the same steel wire with a hook. If the problem is not in the cable, then you should use anti-freeze liquid, a hair dryer or other tools that can be used to warm up the main mechanism for opening the hood using a lever from inside the car.

Typically, the VAZ 2107 trunk lock is replaced after the lid stops closing the first time or starts knocking while driving. In some cases, the trunk lock must be removed and installed in order to replace its cylinder. For example, if the key is lost or the cylinder mechanism fails. So, what is needed to replace the lock and how to do this work yourself, without turning to the services of a service station.

Trunk lock device for VAZ 2107

The trunk lock of the VAZ 2107 consists of the following parts:

A retainer with a plate is installed on the car body, with which the rotor and lock body engage.
If any of the parts is damaged, it must be replaced. If it simply does not work well, but there is no visible damage, you must first try to lubricate the device and adjust the position of the lock relative to the latch on the body. If these operations do not help, the part should be replaced with a new one.

What is needed for replacement

Before changing the trunk lock of a VAZ 2107, you need to stock up on four items:

  • 10mm wrench (preferably a socket wrench);
  • installation (needed to adjust the closing force of the trunk lid);
  • pencil;
  • new trunk lock for VAZ 2107.

You will also need aerosol lubricant or “Litol”.

Replacing the trunk lock of a VAZ 2107

To remove the trunk lock, you must perform the following steps:

  • mark the position of the trunk lock with a pencil;
  • Using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts holding the lock on the trunk lid;
  • Undocking and removing the lock from the luggage compartment lid;
  • push the VAZ 2107 trunk lock cylinder inside the lid;
  • remove the cylinder together with the lock drive extension (distance sleeve);
  • Remove the trunk lock O-ring (if necessary).

If you are only replacing the trunk lock cylinder of a VAZ 2107, then the removed lock must be cleaned and the parts lubricated with “Litol” or aerosol lubricant. If the old lock also needs to be replaced, then it is necessary to lubricate the parts of the new lock.
Once the lock is lubricated, install it as follows:

  • insert the sealing ring of the lock into the trunk lid;
  • insert the lock cylinder into the drive extension (distance sleeve);
  • install the cylinder with the bushing into the lock;
  • install the lock assembly in its regular place on the trunk lid, focusing on the pencil marks;
  • secure the lock with two bolts and tighten them with a 10mm wrench.


If the lock does not close well, its position relative to the latch should be adjusted. To do this, you need to loosen the fastening bolts and change its position so that the latch fits freely into the body and the lever securely fixes it, and there is a uniform gap between the trunk lid and the body around the entire perimeter.
To adjust the force of opening the trunk lid, you need to use a mounting tool to move the ends of the torsion bars of the springs to one of the teeth of the trunk hinges.

This completes the replacement of the VAZ 2107 trunk lock.
